GENERAL SUMMARY:
Responsible for planning and executing an educational program that is age-appropriate.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Creates a learning environment both inside and outside of the classroom
• Assures the welfare, health, and safety of the children in the groups
• Organizes and maintains classroom activity areas, materials, supplies, and playground activities
• Keeps the director advised of equipment and materials that need to be repaired and/or replaced
• Maintains constant supervision of the children
• Takes daily attendance
• Trains and makes the most constructive use of teacher assistant, intern, practicum students, and work-study students
• Establishes and maintains effective communication with parents
• Attends in-service training as required
• Understands NC Child Care laws
• Keeps the director informed of any classroom problems or concerns
• Perform other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Knowledge of Early Childhood Development/ Child Development
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work within a diverse community
• Ability to work independently
• Skilled in the use of Educational Technology
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• NC Licensure in Birth through Kindergarten, Early Childhood Education
• BA or BS Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
• NC State Child Care Lead Teacher Certification
• Prior experience working with young children preferred
• Certified in CPR & First Aide
• Current Criminal Record Check
• Valid North Carolina driver's license preferred
