Health Specialist

Big Five Community Services is hiring for the following position: Health Specialist for all Northwest Counties. Responsible for planning, development, implementation and evaluation of the Head Start Health Services Program. Responsible for linking Head Start families with an ongoing system of health care, assisting parents in the selection of health providers, counseling them about child or family health problems, and promoting parent involvement in all aspects of the health program. Negotiates with the Health Advisory Committee and local health care professionals and service providers to ensure that services for families are available and accessible. Reviews, evaluates and interprets health records and other vital health service data. Promotes health and safety practices in the program and coordinates safety and sanitation procedures, first aide and emergency medical procedures. Shares in the responsibility for the care, safety and well being of all children in the program.
