Business Analyst
Chatham Hall is an Episcopal girls boarding school for students in grades 9-12. Chatham Hall is more than 125 years old and has a proud history of educating girls to better the world. A hallmark of Chatham Hall is its commitment to taking care of the whole student in its charge.
The Business Analyst reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and is responsible for a variety of tasks in the school business office.
Working in a small group within a dynamic organization, this position requires cheerful flexibility and a willingness to do whatever is needed to address the needs of the school’s business.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with, document, evaluate, and recommend improvements to various business processes, including but not limited to:
o tracking restricted and board designated funds
o tracking funding and expenditures for special projects
o tracking and recording endowment investment activity and income o processing endowment draws and allocations
o student billing, recording payments, following up on overdue accounts o depositing and posting payments
o processing invoices, making payments
o transferring funds among accounts
o processing credit card transactions
o payroll
o making journal entries related to all of the above
- Take direction from CFO as projects and tasks are identified
- Prepare budget models and advanced Excel spreadsheets
- Prepare comparative charts on statistics that are measured
- Ability to work in Tableau a plus.
- Assist with production of monthly financial statements
- Assist with production of reports for presentation to board of directors and school administrators
- Work collaboratively with Accountant, Business Office Assistant and CFO to accomplish tasks necessary to conduct the business of the school
- Participate in collaborative work with other school staff, faculty, and administrators in various tasks and projects
- Other duties as assigned by the CFO.
SUPERVISOR AND DIRECT REPORTS
Reports to the Chief Financial Officer. This position has no direct reports.
PERFORMANCE EVALUATION
The Business Analyst’s performance will be evaluated based on accomplishment of assigned tasks, productivity, ability to work constructively with others, and demonstrated flexibility.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires someone with strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem solving skills, energy, and initiative. Must be familiar with accounting practices and recording general ledger transactions. High level computer skill is required, particularly with Excel. This position also requires one to be physically and mentally capable of performing multiple tasks under stressful situations. A college degree is required, and a major in finance, accounting, or related field is preferred.

This administrative position is full time (12 month/37.5 hours per week) and benefits eligible. Normal hours of work are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Ancillary duties, projects, and special events may require significant additional days and hours of work.
