The City of Greensboro is looking for a qualified Engineering Division Manager to join the Water Resources Department. The Engineering Division Manager is responsible for the general operations for the division, including the review of public and development projects, capital project management, stormwater engineering, floodplain management, system analysis and planning. The manager leads a division of approximately 22 employees and directs the daily activities of the division to ensure compliance with all applicable Federal, State and local regulations with an emphasis on utility design, construction, and watershed/floodplain management.
Responsibilities include prioritizing and managing the department's multi-million dollar Capital Improvement Program (CIP) which is currently projected to exceed $400 million dollars over the next 10 years; communication and coordination with various City of Greensboro departments and external stakeholders, concerning water/sewer utility availability and utility extension feasibility; provide technical input and guidance to staff and development community professionals on watershed development issues, structural Best Management Practice (BMP) design, construction and acceptance, as well as drainage issue resolution; oversee efforts to expand the Division's mapping (including inventory) and modeling (water and sewer) efforts to validate utility system capacity; manage development review and permitting process staff members who routinely work with other agencies, City Departments, the County and the development community to review and approve submitted development plans that meet regulatory requirements, The manager also handles customer escalations to resolve complex and sensitive issues, and identifies and implements service improvements. The manager researches, plans and budgets for current and anticipated changes, in addition to receiving input and support from staff in implementing all Divisional policies and procedures that range from process workflow to training. This job is Exempt and is not subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
