Transportation Engineer II
The City of High Point, North Carolina is seeking applicants to fill a Transportation Engineer II position within the Transportation Administration Department. The successful candidate will responsible for wide variety of traffic engineering duties, including site plan, traffic impact analysis, and rezoning/annexation review, driveway and work zone permitting, traffic counts and safety studies, crash analyses, meetings and correspondence with the public, project coordination with other departments and the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), and maintaining project records.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in civil/transportation engineering; or a comparable combination of education and experience.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration in North Carolina, or the ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire date.
• Valid North Carolina Driver's License.
• Minimum eight (8) years if experience as a practicing engineer in the transportation field. Comprehensive knowledge of traffic and transportation engineering fundamentals, principles, and practices. Local and/or State government experience desirable.
• Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written formats.
• Ability to comprehend and analyze various types of data including numerical, tabular, socio economic, etc. and to gather various forms of data through research, field work, etc.
• Ability to drive and transport staff to perform necessary duties such as public presentations, studies, meetings, etc.
• Capable of handling several projects concurrently, and to move from one task to another on short notice.
• Available to work extra hours and attend meetings in town and out of town.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs and specialized analysis and modeling software used to evaluate traffic operations (TripGen, Synchro, HCS, etc.)
• Practical user familiarity with CAD and GIS applications.
Salary ranges from $59,627.57 - $80,928.43 annually depending on qualifications along with an excellent benefits package.
