Computer Science/Information Science Faculty
Waynesburg University is seeking candidates for a full-time, faculty position in Computer Science/Information Science. Position will begin August 2022. Salary and rank are commensurate with experience and qualifications. The qualified candidate will have an M.S. in Computer Science or a closely related field (Ph.D. or an ABD equivalent is preferred). Previous experience teaching in a university/college setting or in a business or professional environment is required. The position is responsible for teaching courses in computer science, mathematics, and other current areas of data and technology. The purpose of the position is to help chart the course of the University’s computer, data and technology-oriented programs for the future. The successful candidate will: be able to teach traditional computer science courses such as programming, algorithms, architecture, discrete structures, intelligent systems, and operating systems, have knowledge of several computer languages: Java, C/C++, R, Python. The University values candidates who have specific knowledge in a particular application of computer science such as cybersecurity, software development, or data management, an entrepreneurial approach that exhibits an interdisciplinary methodology for the inclusion of other academic departments, the ability to build new initiatives with outside groups and companies, and to reach out to prospective students, the ability to stay informed of new techniques and directions within the discipline and to upgrade the University programs appropriately. The successful candidates for the position above must demonstrate a strong Christian faith, a commitment to the University’s Mission and a demonstrated commitment to that faith, through his/her professional responsibilities, relationships and the mentoring of students.
