Position Summary

As the Coordinator of Annual Giving, you play a crucial role in achieving the fundraising and engagement goals of the Annual Giving and larger University Advancement team. Your primary responsibilities involve fostering relationships with a designated portfolio of young alumni to encourage their involvement and philanthropic contributions and managing student philanthropic initiatives, including supervising volunteers.

In this role, no two days are the same. You will build strong connections with a portfolio of alumni, inspiring their philanthropic engagement with their alma mater. This role provides the opportunity for occasional travel to alumni cities of work and/or residence to conduct meetings focused on garnering leadership-level support.

In the context of the recently completed and successful Elon Leads campaign and the ongoing Boldly Elon strategic plan, you will actively engage with alumni to shape the future of their alma mater and garner their continued support.

Additionally, you will recruit and support passionate student leaders to further our goal of building a culture of student philanthropy. Managing student and Reunion Zero volunteers will require your creativity, enthusiasm, and consistency.

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Annual Giving, you will collaboratively strive to meet ambitious goals and cultivate significant campus and divisional partnerships.

Minimum Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree required.

Preferred Education and Experience

Experience in any office setting (internships included) and experience working with volunteers and/or college students desired.

Job Duties
  • Fundraising
    • Cultivate and engage a portfolio of 200+ young alumni, fostering meaningful connections, disseminating pertinent information, and encouraging active involvement. This role provides the opportunity for frequent virtual meetings and occasional travel to conduct meetings focused on garnering leadership-level support.
    • Take the lead in directly engaging with alumni prospects, working in close collaboration with the Annual Giving team. Drive engagement by solicitating for Elon Society gifts ($1,500). Your proactive and personable approach will be key in fostering a strong culture of philanthropy within our community.
    • Contribute significantly to Elon University's success by positively contributing to key initiatives such as Elon Day, annual giving campaigns, and the coordination of student and Reunion Zero volunteers. Foster collaboration by leading outreach initiatives, crafting impactful multi-channel communications, and undertaking diverse assigned responsibilities.
  • Communications and Engagement
    • Foster strong relationships and maintain regular communication with student volunteers, providing vital resources and prompt responses to inquiries, fueling effective outreach efforts.
    • Energize engagement with alumni prospects by seamlessly connecting on Advancement and University priorities. Utilize a dynamic mix of email, social media, mailings, phone calls, and face-to-face meetings—whether on Elon's campus or in alumni cities of work or residence. Transform routine outreach into exciting connections that resonate with the vibrancy of Elon's mission.
    • Collaborate with departmental and divisional partners to enhance the preparation of deliverables for significant projects including student philanthropy, reunions, Elon Society, and other communications.
  • Operations
    • Spearhead student philanthropy efforts, demonstrating adept proficiency in the identification, recruitment, training, and solicitations of volunteers. Your role extends to providing invaluable support in event planning, solicitations, and supervising timelines with precision. Collaborate seamlessly with Elon's Office of Alumni Engagement, Advancement Communications, Student Life, and others.
    • Support Elon University and University Advancement events and projects such as Move-in, Commencement Week, Homecoming and Reunion Weekend, regional events, Family Weekend, and mailing/shipping fulfillment.
    • Leverage technology, such as Raiser's Edge (University Advancement's internal database), to support reunions and annual giving initiatives. Proactively stay abreast of new technologies to enhance skills and efficiency. Ensure maintenance of reports and records for optimal operational success.
