Mechatronic Field Service Technician
The position is critical to the continuing success of our company and will be a primary conduit of information between the customer and the company.
The position of Mechatronic Field Service Technician will consist of any or all of the following as well as other duties as needed:
Central figure in new machine startups
Commissioning new machine installations
Machine retrofit kit installs
Build electrical sub-assemblies in preparation for the total assembly of the equipment which may include routing, connecting and terminating wires, connecting electrical components, arranging, securing and labeling wires.
Loading PLC programs on to the machine and making any necessary software adjustments.
Mechanical and Electrical upgrade installs, troubleshooting equipment & making appropriate repairs, as well as training customers to maintain a high level of performance.
Assist with the teardown and shipment preparation of equipment as well as installation at customer site.
The position requires traveling within the North and South American Continents as well as occasional global trips within our company's areas of coverage. This job entails 70-85% travel. There will be a training period of 1 to 2 years that includes travel within the USA, and to South America and Germany. The length of the training time will depend on the candidate's past experience and education.
Qualifications and Duties:
To qualify, the successful candidate will need to meet the following requirements:
The candidate must be a self-starter, able to travel and work independently with minimal supervision.
Must be capable of multi-tasking, setting priorities and accepting last minute job assignments.
Experience and knowledge with industrial machinery or capital equipment.
Onsite machine electrical repair, troubleshooting and maintenance services.
Ability to resolve problems, think analytically and communicate professionally in high pressure, time sensitive, customer environments.
Willing to work flexible hours, different shift hours and overtime on a short notice.
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and ability to travel (including ability to be approved for a passport, international travel and rental car contracts).
Establish and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction with Focke & Co. machinery, technical support, parts and service.
Assist other Field Service Engineers as necessary
Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
Education:
- Minimum education: 2 year Associate in Applied Science.
- Communication within English language is a must with Spanish communication as a plus.
- Basic PC skills / knowledge; Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
