The System Administrator I (SA-I) is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of the GTCC systems hardware, software and related infrastructure. The SA-I will assist in day-to-day activities of the department including maintaining servers and other GTCC systems to ensure proper security, operation, and availability. The SA-I will assist project teams, address technical issues, and offer solutions supporting the college. These activities include technical strategy, research & development, and maintenance within the documented project life cycle. S/He will monitor systems for proper operation, system maintenance, security-breaches and will follow established process to standardize overall change management of the production environment, and server management; ensuring equipment is properly patched and maintained with software / firmware updates. The SA-I will ensure successful backups of both files and ERP data and capable of restoring data as necessary. This position works closely with the Director of Infrastructure and Operations, Security Manager, Network Team, Service Delivery Team, and other System Administrators to resolve incidents, problems, tickets, and change requests. Candidate will be required to achieve an appropriate, role-based certification within one year of hire date.
The SA-I will provide analysis and status of the current Server Deployment, and availability of key business hardware and software.
Plan and coordinate technology projects using project management methodologies.
Plan and implement weekly maintenance activities according to approved processes.
Ensure data backups are defined and executed properly and record results.
Plan and schedule Disaster Recovery testing to ensure availability of key business technology infrastructure needed to support student enrollment and instruction.
Monitor and maintain software and maintenance license renewals to ensure business continuity and availability, striving to achieve a 99.99% documented up time.
Plan technology upgrades with minimal interruption of business services.
Stand up servers both physical and virtual using a Standard Configuration Document.
Monitor and conducts routine audits of security policies, tests security systems and maintain scheduled security documentation.
Provide operational performance metrics monitoring key system parameters to interdict problems before they impact service availability.
Meet assigned deadlines for project and tasks, provide weekly status updates tracking implementation, communication and budget information.
Keep current status of assigned work using the deployed ticketing solution.
Ensure business continuity by documenting development and programming work and test developed solution using keen problem solving skills.
Follow change control process to document changes to the current production infrastructure.
Demonstrate and model the College’s employability skills: adaptability, communication information processing, problem solving, responsibility and teamwork.
Balancing daily challenges with automating / documenting procedures

Daily: Users about status of their service requests.
Weekly: Peers on system status and maintenance change controls / scheduling
As required: Contact and coordinate with vendors for support services
Daily: Director, I&O for assignments and priorities
• Associates degree in information technology (computer science, computer information systems, programming or other related field) from a regionally accredited college or university.
• Bachelor’s degree in information technology (computer science, computer information systems, programming or other related field) from a regionally accredited college or university is strongly preferred.
• Three years of experience in a technical support related field.
• Adaptive troubleshooting and technical support abilities
• Demonstrated knowledge in supporting a virtual environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of server configuration and repair
• Proven organizational, problem-solving and communication skills
• Experience in an higher educational environment is preferred
• Demonstrated knowledge managing server security
• Ability to author and coordinate standard operating documents
• Experience with VM Ware, PowerShell, Active Directory
• Experience with (AWS) Amazon Web Services Administration
• AWS Cloud Practitioner certification
• Role-based Microsoft certification
