Department Coordinator
POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSBILITIES
The Department of Occupational Therapy at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, New Orleans invites applications for a Department Coordinator. The individual in this position provides administrative support to the Department Head/Program Director, faculty, and students. The incumbent must possess the ability to be flexible, multi-task, and adapt to the ever changing duties to be performed for the department. Incumbent must possess strong problem solving skills and the confidence to make decisions and act accordingly. Incumbent must possess language skills to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with a diverse population, working independently to enhance work related to human resources, purchasing, clinical operations, maintenance of databases, and other work related duties. Incumbent must understand and comply with State, Federal, University and School policies, rules and regulations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Earned bachelor’s degree in business, health care, or science from a regionally accredited institution
- Has a minimum of 3 years’ experience in office administration
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Earned master’s degree in business, health care, or science from a regionally accredited institution
- Has a minimum of 1 year of experience in academic office administration
ADDITIONAL POSITION INFORMATION
A demonstrated knowledge of general accounting practices and additional 8 years of office experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree in the required fields of study.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT/INSTITUTION
The Department of Occupational Therapy at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, New Orleans offers a Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) degree program. The program accepts one cohort of 35 students per year, beginning in January. The program is completed within 27 months. The Greater New Orleans metropolitan area provides many opportunities for faculty and students to participate community service, including a student-led clinic.
