Job Description:
Maryland Environmental Service has an opening for a Mechanic at the Paul S. Sarbanes Ecosystem Restoration Project on Poplar Island. Responsibilities include installation, repair, and maintenance of mechanical equipment, including heavy equipment, pumps, and vehicles, as needed. May require the ability to work over-time, nights, weekends, and during adverse weather conditions. All personnel at this facility travel to the workplace daily via crew boat.
Estimated Pay Range:
$32,915.63 - $57,602.05

Minimum Requirements:
Graduation from a standard high school or possession of GED equivalency certificate and three (3) years of experience performing installation, repair and maintenance of mechanical equipment. Formal schooling from an accredited vocational school with a major in a related field may be substituted for experience. Education experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to three years of the required experience. Must have a valid driver’s license with less than 5 points, the ability to lift 50lbs, and the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications include:
Maintenance experience with some of the following equipment is preferred: pontoon equipment, large pumps, bulldozers, excavators, articulated dump trucks, water trucks, fuel trucks, and light trucks. Knowledge of computers and maintenance tracking software is preferred but not required.
