Job Description

Missouri S&T is currently seeking a dynamic and dedicated Assistant Director of Business Administration to join the Business Administration & Finance team. This role will assume a crucial role in supporting the Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation (VCRI) and Graduate Education. As the selected candidate, you will be entrusted with the responsibility of overseeing all business and finance aspects related to the Research & Innovation and Graduate Education divisions providing valuable insights.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Collaboration:
    • Supervise financial and administrative operations and provide training and guidance to center staff as needed on financial procedures and policies and compliance issues relating to financial accountability.
    • Work together with the Business Administration & Finance team to take charge of financial and administrative operations and foster a collaborative environment.
  • Innovative Problem-Solving:
    • Develop, recommend, implement, and monitor accounting procedures for the Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation (VCRI).
    • Implement strategies to enhance efficiency, promoting a culture of adaptability and forward-thinking.
  • Financial Reporting and Analysis:
    • Provide clear and concise financial overviews of the divisions reporting.
    • Generate comprehensive monthly and annual budget reports, utilizing tools such as Excel, Cognos, Workday Planning, and PeopleSoft.
    • Collaborate closely with the division leader and Business Administration & Finance team to analyze data and strategize for the future.
  • Long-Range Planning and Adjustments:
    • Collaborate closely with the VCRI to provide analytical support related to the development of the University's multi-year financial plan, operating budgets, and assessments of financial operations.
  • Budget Maintenance and Reconciliation:
    • Lead meticulous maintenance and reconciliation of budgets and grants, showcasing dedication to accuracy and continuous improvement.
    • Supervise the maintenance and reconciliation of budgets and grants for the Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation.
  • Dynamic Execution of Additional Duties:
    • Execute additional duties as assigned, reflecting a willingness to learn and contribute beyond core responsibilities.
Supervision Exercised:

Functional supervision may be provided for staff working in Research Centers, student, or temporary employees. May have formal supervisory responsibilities in future.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education combination of education and experience and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of University of Missouri System and Missouri S&T policies and procedures, and proficiency in PeopleSoft or other similar financial/accounting system.

Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $52,223.00 to $70,879.00 yearly.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
