Job Duties

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Morgan State University seeks to fill six tenure-track faculty positions. The tenure track appointments are expected to be made at the assistant, associate, or full professor levels.

Center for Equitable Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Systems: The Center's mission is to facilitate the development, deployment, and verification of socially responsible, trustworthy, and equitable artificial intelligence systems and to ensure the public is well informed of how evolving technologies in this space affect their health, prosperity, and wellbeing. The center focuses on theoretical and applied research in socially responsible AI research that addresses the identification and mitigation of algorithmic bias.

Cybersecurity Assurance and Policy Center: The CAP Center invites applications from exceptional candidates in memory safety, side-channel analysis, hardware roots of trust, formal verification of critical hardware, AI and machine learning for hardware security, and other emerging areas that complement existing strengths within the center. The candidate must have a strong understanding of state-of-the-art hardware-related security threats and countermeasures and their impacts across the hardware design. The design and prototyping of security solutions in the ASIC/FPGA at both IP and SoC levels are desirable. Additional information about the CAP Center can be found at https://www.morgan.edu/cap.

Institutional Profile: The faculty assignment will be at the Morgan State University Clarence M. Mitchell School of Engineering. The ECE Department serves more than 450 undergraduate students and more than 70 graduate students. Morgan State University has been designated as Maryland's Public Urban University, with the responsibility of addressing the needs of residents, schools, and organizations within the Baltimore Metropolitan Area. Morgan State University is in a residential area of northeast Baltimore City. It is easily accessible from downtown, the Baltimore beltway, and Interstate 95. Each year, the school enrolls more than 8,000 students in programs from the baccalaureate level through the doctorate. The University has a comprehensive undergraduate curriculum with more specialized offerings at the master's and doctoral levels. While Morgan is a historically black institution, it serves students of all racial and ethnic backgrounds. Its mission today is to enroll a student body that is diverse in its socioeconomic and academic status and to provide the full range of experiences and services that permits it to successfully serve students with a wide variety of goals and needs. In many fields, but particularly in engineering and the sciences, Morgan accounts for large percentages of degrees received by African Americans from Maryland institutions.

Job Duties include:
