Position Overview

 

Primary Purpose of Position
The Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering Department (CAEE) of the College of Engineering (COE) at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University invites applications and nominations for its Research Operations Manager position. The Research Operations Manager is a direct report to the Chair of the CAEE Department.

The position provides operations management and technical-scientific knowledge-driven planning and direction for multiple educational and research laboratories.

In addition, the position requires knowledge of research concepts, practices and procedures, teaching and research laboratory operations, regulatory requirements, safety, planning and budgeting, and ABET requirements.

The range of duties includes, but is not limited to:
  • Facility planning and maintenance, inventory control, purchasing and maintenance of laboratory equipment, fiscal and administrative services, monitoring environmental risks and quality control, planning and scheduling work, determining the training needs
  • Support for faculty and students in curricula and extra-curricula activities
  • Removal of items no longer needed by the department and managing their subsequent disposal or transfer to surplus.
  • Providing lead support to the teaching and research labs of the Department.
  • Ensuring that the teaching and research labs are organized, maintained, and functional.
  • Lending weekly support to the College of Engineering Facilities Team
  • Completing additional tasks as assigned by the CAEE department chair.

The Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering (CAEE) Department is one of 7 departments in the College of Engineering. The department offers a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering and architectural engineering and a master’s degree in civil engineering. CAEE Faculty actively engage in research and supervise, mentor, and graduate doctoral students via one of the 5 doctoral programs of the College. Work Hours 8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M., Monday - Friday, (some weekend and evening work may be required)

  • Provides instruction and training to others.
  • Support of College Facility relevant activities in collaboration with the COE Facility Management staff.
