NC STATE UNIVERSITY in Raleigh, NC seeks a Research Associate to independently support, develop, & design research activities for the Translations Research in Pain Program. Responsible for training, assisting in surgery, & post-operative care as well as performing physical/ orthopedic exams. DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) or equivalent veterinary degree and three years of veterinary clinical experience with dogs and cats. Three years of experience as a Research Assistant, Fellow, Intern, or Veterinarian will also be accepted. Must have demonstrated experience with performing pain assessment & perioperative management after surgery; performing local anesthesia and monitoring anesthesia & sedation; designing & executing canine rehabilitation program to optimize recovery of muscle mass and limb function following a joint surgery; assisting with referral level orthopedic surgeries utilizing knowledge & experience of orthopedic equipment including drills, plating, ligament reconstruction, anchor, & wound management; & orthopedic radiography & joint arthrocentesis.
