ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Distribution and Transportation:
- Accurately and efficiently transports lab-related supplies, equipment, specimens, reports, and x-ray films to and from laboratory outreach clients
- Responsible for maintenance and appearance of assigned vehicle
- Abides all laws and regulations while driving assigned vehicle
- Matches received specimen to requisition and verifies required information
- Safely packs, stores, and transports specimen in compliance with regulatory guidelines
- Processes specimen and applies barcode labels prior to delivery to core lab for testing
- Will work closely with clients to ensure compliance with Outreach policies and procedures
- Receives, interprets, enters, and verifies orders for accuracy, medical necessity, and proper documentation (i.e. insurance information, identification numbers, Medicare Advance Beneficiary Notices, etc.) into appropriate EMR
- Accurately enters billing information into the appropriate EMR
- Perform diagnosis coding in MIS and 3M computer systems to assure maximum allowable reimbursement
- Accurately and efficiently address/respond to inquiries concerning laboratory results
- Assist in interpretation of orders received and ensure accuracy both in order entry and specimen requirements
- Answer telephone in an polite and efficient manner
- Provide a high level of customer service
- Resolve issues encountered by our clients to include: billing inquiries, specimen tracking, requests for documentation and questions with specimen integrity and collection requirements
- Contact physician's offices and various clinics to ensure operational satisfaction, conduct client surveys, and make certain that client issues are handled appropriately
- Perform courier services in a manner to provide a high level of quality to our customers
Employee Relations: - Works as part of a team with all Pathology and NMHS employees
- Participates in continuing education programs to maintain and expand skills
- Stay abreast of regulatory changes
- Adheres to NMHS/NMMC Policies/Procedures/Guidelines
- Complies with appropriate Local/State/Federal policies/procedures/guideline/regulations/laws/statues
REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or equivalent, required; preference given for associates degree or higher
- Valid Mississippi Driver's License and acceptable driving record/history; required
- Preferable one year experience working in a laboratory setting dealing with compliance issues
- Proficient computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel); required
- Working knowledge of hospital and laboratory information systems (i.e. 3M, PFM, etc); required
- Good organizational and communication (written and verbal) skills; required
- Working knowledge of various diagnosis codes; required
- Knowledge of ordering and reporting to include specimen requirements, specimen handling, reference ranges, test names
- Working Knowledge of various Medicare/Medicaid billing regulations (i.e. Coding); required
- Knowledge of and appropriate handling of biohazardous specimens; required
