Field Epidemiologist, Surveillance
Acadiana CARES, in conjunction with the Louisiana Department of Health STD/HIV/ Hepatitis Program is currently recruiting an individual to conduct surveillance activities for persons tested or in treatment for HIV or Hepatitis C. The field epidemiologist is responsible for determining and documenting all new cases of HIV infection, providing updates for those in care and investigating all potential cases. There may also be some investigation and documentation for Hepatitis C infections. The successful candidate will also conduct reinvestigations of risk or missing information and conduct calls to counterparts out of state. Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with care providers to facilitate disease reporting and follow-up investigations are also an integral part of this position. Excellent communication and organizational skills required, with the ability to be efficient and accurate. Moderate knowledge of personal computers and various software programs including MS Word and Excel. Bachelor’s degree required and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a clinical setting or related work. Preference will be given to candidates with laboratory experience and competency in understanding laboratory tests and interpreting results. There is one position to be filled in Lafayette, Louisiana.
