Overview

Princeton University’s School of Public and International Affairs (SPIA) is looking to hire a full-time pre-doctoral research assistant for the Criminal Justice @ SPIA Initiative. The position entails close collaboration with two faculty members, professors Patrick Sharkey and Jonathan Mummolo, on projects related to criminal justice research. Tasks will include research, writing, coordination, and literature review, related to the Violence and Inequality Project and the Research on Policing Reform and Accountability project.

In addition to working closely with faculty, research assistants participate in the vibrant academic life of Princeton University, including taking graduate or undergraduate courses, attending seminars, and engaging with graduate students and other research assistants.

This is a one year term position.



Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Violence and Inequality Project: Assist with multiple analyses, reports, and grant submissions for the Violence and Inequality Project.
  • Conduct an extensive literature review for a journal article.
  • Assist with site visit and event coordination.
  • Research on Policing Reform and Accountability project: Contribute to ongoing work on police body-camera research, which may include statistical analysis, literature review, and other research tasks.
  • Perform other research tasks and research coordination as needed.


Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Programming and data analysis experience
  • Strong research and writing skills
  • Organization and coordination skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with academic literature review preferred
  • Knowledge of policing institutions preferred
