Job Purpose
Manage the day-to-day operations of the Learning Center. The position is responsible for hiring, supervising, scheduling, and managing student tutors. Coordinate with the Director of the Testing and Learning Center to train student employees, program assessment, and marketing.

Essential Functions
Manage the university peer tutoring program including recruiting, hiring, scheduling, supervising, training, evaluating, and directing day-to-day activities of the tutors, advise tutors with respect to appropriate student management including subject matter and study skills. Design and produce training materials and orientation materials. Manage training for new hires and returning student workers. Coordinate and schedule tutoring appointments. Maintain timesheets of all tutors. Act as the first point of contact for students, staff, and faculty inquiries. Work with academic colleges, academic advisors, and campus departments to deliver specialized student services for target populations like group tutoring, test prep, and online tutoring. Responsible for regularly communicating the progress, outcomes, and direction of work to supervisor and make recommendations concerning improvement of programs and services. Stay current on new and different training practices and tutoring techniques through research and professional development; implement best practices as appropriate. Assist with other Testing and Learning Center services as needed. Present to students, staff, faculty, and community on tutoring, study skills, and other Volpe Library and TLC services.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent with four years of related experience (one year of customer service experience and three years of supervisory experience) OR a bachelor's degree in education, business, or similar equivalent degree from an accredited institution and two years of related experience. Ability to work independently, without direct supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
Significant experience in word processing and the use of spreadsheets. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to organize workflow, prioritize tasks, and complete projects by target dates. Flexibility, adaptability, and comfort with complexity and change. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Organizational skills, attention to detail, and high degree of openness to new approaches and new ideas.
Work Hours
Hours during the Fall and, Spring Semesters:
Sunday, 1:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Monday, 12 noon – 8:30 p.m.
Tuesday – Thursday,11:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Between Semesters and Summer Hours: 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary
Commensurate with education and experience; Clerical and Support Skill Level 7.
