General Definition of Work

Design, plan and lead recreational Summer Camp programs for a variety of activities/classes on a seasonal basis. Programs may be oriented toward any age group. Program lead will be required to have superior knowledge of the field or topic that is being taught or lead in the program.

This position is responsible for teaching children the proper way to play the game of pickleball.

Shifts may include: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Essential Functions

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.   • Maintains list of program needs and materials and communicate with designated supervisor.
  • Works closely with the Program Supervisor in implementing schedule of the Summer Camp
  • Leads and supervises the program and all participants by instructing group/individual camps, lessons, and clinics
  • Prepares areas and locations in preparation of programs
  • Obtains and stores equipment in proper area in an organized manner
  • Enforces all safety rules and department policies
  • Reports definite, as well as, potential physical hazards in unsafe conditions of the facility and equipment to the Program Supervisor
  • Effectively communicates problems to the Program Supervisor and Department staff or others
  • Program lead must possess strong oral and written communication skills
  • Assists with occasional special events/tournaments as needed
  • Evaluates and offers feedback to participants
  • Promotes the growth and interest of the sport
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to lead and instruct individuals/groups of all ages
  • Ability to create a disciplined, fun, and challenging learning environment for participants
  • Must be punctual, reliable, and able to accommodate a variable work schedule that may include evenings and weekends dependent on the program needs
  • Knowledge of the field or topic that is being taught or lead in the program
  • Must be able to work with other instructors/supervisors for the benefit of the program
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and written
  • Must be able to assess and report progress to parents/guardians/participants as needed in regard to the sport and answer any questions they may have
Education and Experience:
  • Must be 18 years old or older
  • High School Diploma or GED certification required
  • Preferred : Two or more years of experience teaching pickleball
Special Requirements:
  • A valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
