Brief Summary of Work for this Position

Professional tutors will be chosen on the basis of competence, character, and recommendation of the Project Director and the Coordinator/Counselor. They are responsible to the Upward Bound Coordinator under whose direct supervision they function. Their responsibilities include tutoring, assisting, building appropriate positive rapport with participants, guiding participants, as well as participating in orientation, training, articulatory and evaluative programs, and sessions with other staff members. This staff will also assist instructors in administering pre and post-assessments to the participants, tracking growth (or mastery); recording and tracking the progress of each participant; assisting with data collection, and providing one-on-one and/or small group tutoring.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

A current college student majoring in math, science, English; 3.0 GPA

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Prefer experience working with youth

Please note, this is a temporary position. The length of the assignment will be based on department need with the possibility of continuation. Temporary assignments cannot exceed 11 consecutive months without a full 31-day break from employment.
