Scientific Glassblower Intern



The Scientific Glassblowing Intern is a temporary position responsible for aiding the Scientific Glassblower in The Dietrich Glass Shop. The position responsibilities include the fabrication, modification and repair of a wide variety of scientific glass apparatus, including vacuum systems, gas-handling systems, dewars, cells, reaction vessels and vacuum gauges, and working in a variety of materials.

The Scientific Glassblower must possess at least introductory scientific glassblowing skills.
The incumbent must possess excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in support of a diverse community. The Dietrich School of Arts & Sciences is committed to building a culturally diverse staff.


HS Diploma or GED is required. Applicant should have 1-2 years of relevant experience.

A working introductory knowledge of scientific glassblowing is required. Candidates should have experience working in a scientific glassblowing setting or be enrolled in or have recently completed a scientific glassblowing program.
