Position Title: Communications Coordinator, Division of Student Success

Reports to: Assistant Director of Communications, Division of Student Success

Grade/Classification: MR06/Hourly, full-time staff position

The University of Tennessee, Knoxville invites applications for the position of Communications Coordinator, Division of Student Success.

Position Summary: This position reports to the Assistant Director of Communications in the Division of Student Success. With direction from the Assistant Director, the incumbent coordinates communications and support for the Division of Student Success, including but not limited to Academic Advising Initiatives, First-Generation Initiatives, Academic Success Center, Veterans Success Center, Career Development and Academic Exploration, Strategic Initiatives, UT Success Academy, and Undergraduate Research and Fellowships

Primarily, the coordinator will develop and implement communications related to current students including emails, newsletters, videos, and invitations. This position also coordinates the division's social media presence and updates to the division's websites.

Position Responsibilities:

Develop and execute existing communication strategies for the advancement of student success, retention, and graduation, specific to key areas and the division as a whole. Communication methods include digital (e.g., web, email, presentations, videos) and print (e.g., brochures, posters, guidebooks).

At the direction of division leadership, manage the division’s website and provide ongoing maintenance for all of the division's web pages.

Collaborate with the Strategic Communications Manager to help provide a consistent, coordinated social media presence for the division that promotes the student-centered and success-focused mission of the division.

Facilitate the technical aspects of Emma & Slate email communications including list gathering & scrubbing, formatting, editing, and sending.

Utilize tools such as Canva, Adobe Indesign, Adobe Ilustrator to provide graphic design support for key areas of responsibility within the division, social media, and VPSS on an as-needed basis.

Help Assistant Director with the facilitation of the division’s newsletter, and other departmental newsletters

Assist with data and information gathering for key campaigns such as Winter Mini-Term, Summer @ Rocky Top, Winter Engagement, Tennessee Success Advantage

Education

Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Advertising, or related field

Experience

Required:

· Experience with creating and executing communications content.

Preferred:

· 2 years full-time experience in creating and executing communications content.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Required:

· Knowledge of communication fundamentals and ability to translate them into specific projects.

· Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.

· Ability to read and understand data including charts, graphics, and tables.

· Ability to create social media posts including design and text.

· Ability to work with CRM systems (Salesforce, Slate)

· Skill in designing and maintaining WordPress webpages.

· Ability to design graphics through platforms including Canva, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop

Preferred:

· Ability to analyze data and make recommendations for action.

Salary: $42,000 to $46,000 and accompanied by a university benefits package.
