Landscape Aide 1

MR02: Starting Rate is $15/hr depending on experience

Duties/Responsibilities:

The Facilities Services Department is responsible for the maintenance and operations of all campus facilities, which includes buildings, grounds, and utility systems. The Landscape Aide provides general cleaning and grooming of campus grounds.

This position includes manual labor duties. Also, this position assists in the maintenance, repair, renovation and construction of campus landscapes and grounds in an outdoor environment.


Qualifications :

Minimum/Required Qualifications (include education, experience, skills & abilities, licenses & certifications):
  • Valid Tennessee Driver’s License
  • Stable work history
  • Ability to perform hard, physical work for long periods in all types of weather
  • Ability to read and follow instructions
  • Ability to learn operation of all types of power equipment (commercial mowers, leaf blowers, line trimmers, and chain saws, etc.)
  • Ability to gain knowledge of equipment and tools required to complete job tasks
  • Ability to learn multi-tasking in order complete assignments in a timely fashion
  • Ability to gain knowledge of safety measures to use when approaching tasks and operating equipment
  • Ability to demonstrate a positive attitude and interaction with others
Applicant must be in good physical health, able to perform strenuous activities and able to lift and carry up to a 50 pounds. Also, applicant must be able to follow instructions, have a positive attitude and interact well with others in a team environment. Applicant must be able to follow the departmental attendance policy.

-All Facilities Services personnel are considered "Essential Personnel." In the event of extraordinary situations, the University may suspend normal operations and classes in whole or part. In such instances, all Essential Personnel must fulfill their duties in order to (1) ensure the continuation of critical University operations; (2) attend to the needs of students and other members of the University community; and (3) protect the University’s assets. Essential Personnel are expected to come to work in any and all extraordinary/emergency situations unless it is unsafe to do so or they are specifically excused by their supervisor.
