Job Summary

Representing a high-impact approach to improving student outcomes, Engage U aims to facilitate innovative and holistic pathways to higher education for all students. The Herriman-based Engage U Coordinator will coordinate targeted programming, perform engagement-centered community outreach, and serve as a first-stop resource referral guide to help direct current and prospective students toward the full suite of university services and resources, such as admissions, transfer student success, financial aid, and academic advising.

The coordinator will collaborate with the program manager to develop, implement, and assess Engage U programming at the Herriman campus. This programming centers around improving access to and demystifying available student support services, and often requires partnership with internal campus partners to provide content area expertise.

The Herriman Campus partnership between the University of Utah and Salt Lake Community College is designed to improve ease of transfer access between the two institutions by allowing students to complete an associate's degree and transfer to the University to complete a bachelor's degree, all in one location. To that end, the Engage U coordinator can expect to work closely and collaboratively with individuals from both institutions to support student aspirations and inquiries.

This position will be based at the Juniper Building at the Herriman Campus (14551 South Sentinel Ridge Blvd, Herriman, UT 84096) with remote work as arranged with supervisor, and occasional work at the University of Utah (main campus).

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and assess Engage U programming at the Herriman Campus with support and guidance from the Engage U program manager and in alignment with the Engage U strategic plan.
• Develop familiarity with available college access and university resources and refer current and prospective students to the correct resource in a timely and effective manner.
• Assist the Engage U program manager in planning, developing, and implementing exploration opportunities, including resource fairs, industry visits, parent sessions, community activities, and opportunities to partner with SLCC when relevant.
• Track information on college or resources utilized; creates reports as required. Maintain database of student interactions and provide data and information on students served when requested.
• Work collaboratively with college departments and main campus content and service experts to implement targeted strategies to enhance student success services from students' start to finish.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of and ability to follow college policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of current technologies and word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet software, specifically Microsoft Office applications.
• Knowledge of academic and/or customer service techniques.
• Skill in listening to issues, synthesizing information, and reaching sound conclusions.
• Skill in dealing effectively with students and/or parents.
• Skill in setting up and maintaining detailed records.
• Ability to multi-task and organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
• Ability to analyze problems, identify solutions and take appropriate action, and resolve problems using independent judgment and decision-making processes.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, other department staff, students, and the public.
