Job Summary

KUER seeks a creative fundraising professional and team-oriented leader to help the station continue to grow its successful recurring and annual donor program. Duties will include managing a dynamic staff, developing engaged stewardship communications, maintaining a high level of donor renewal and gift growth, and participating with a professional public media development team. Key priorities include developing effective long-term, data-driven strategies for donor retention and stewardship activities.

Responsibilities
  • Management of the KUER donor-services staff on data entry, gift processing, and donor services, with a commitment to data integrity and customer service and revenue generation. Supervisory duties include hiring, training, evaluating and managing work schedules to cover work load, setting clear expectations and providing feedback for employees.
  • Oversee individual gift processing and approval (membership through major donors).
  • Ensure proper acknowledgments for individual gifts are completed in a timely manner, including general one-time, sustainer, vehicle donations, and IRA / DAF gifts.
  • Oversee benefit and premium fulfillment with membership team.
  • Assist in the planning, managing and execution of donor renewal, add gift and upgrade campaigns, and oversee the payment recapture program through print, phone and digital channels. Coordinate with Data Manager for donor lists, vendors for services and Director of Membership on planning and budgeting. May create, edit, proof and manage required copy and artwork.
  • Manage and execute donor-driven events (Mug Stops, Sustainer related events, etc.).
  • Work with the Director of Membership and Data Manager to execute the annual tax receipts to individual donors.
  • Work with the Acquisition Fundraising and Data Systems staff to develop and maintain a donor services lead generation model for inbound communications (calls, emails).
  • Provide complete stewardship for Membership (up to $499) and Social Network ($500 to $1,199) sustainers and annual donors. Coordinate with the Communication and Donor Acquisition teams on communication deployment through digital, web, and print.
  • Work with the Director of Membership and Director of Development to assess and identify Social Network donors for prospecting by the Major Donor team.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of on-air pledge drives including producing of assigned on-air pledge breaks.
  • May oversee or assist with the coordination of volunteers to support membership and station related event activities.
  • Work with Data Managers to ensure Payment Card Industry (PCI) Compliance with donor data and transactions. Ensure appropriate staff is completing annual PCI Compliance review, as well as database and data-privacy trainings.
  • Work with accounting teams and University of Utah Advancement gift processing teams to ensure proper gift processing procedures are followed.
  • Manage specific department area budget and provide revenue and expense projections.
  • Position may work in partnership with the Membership Manager of PBS Utah to understand the PBS Utah based Unite database and TV membership processes. May provide supervisory coverage with the PBS donor services team. The PBS Utah Membership Manager may also learn the Allegiance database and TV processes in order to provide supervisory coverage to the KUER donor services team.
  • Act as a station representative within the community.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, related field, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); three years of fund-raising experience which includes direct solicitation of contributions, volunteer leadership support, written and verbal presentations, and strategy and market development are required. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required. Experience in grant or proposal writing and a background working with local print and electronic media is preferred. Demonstrated negotiating skills are also preferred.

  • Ability to write and speak fluently in a second language is advantageous.
