Mission or Goal of Unit: The mission of the CHOR VCU Pediatric Residency Program is to train physicians to become expert pediatricians committed to providing superior medical care to infants, children, and adolescents. Chief Purpose of this position: We are seeking a pediatric Residency Program Director that will help to lead our outstanding Pediatric Residency Programs. VCU Medical Center and Children's Hospital have joined together, forming Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU. Together, we are a full-service children's hospital that offers a robust continuum of pediatric services, research, and education.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Teaching: Faculty will oversee the pediatric residency program as well as provide guidance and mentorship to Residents, Chief Residents, and Associate Program Directors as the Residency Program Director.
  • Research: Faculty member will have interest in educational research and scholarship and will serve as a research mentor to other educational leaders and housestaff in the department of pediatrics.
  • Service: Faculty member will serve on departmental, Institutional Graduate Medical Education, or School of Medicine level committees when appropriate, as well as professional activities through journal review, conference presentations, etc.
  • Clinical: Faculty member will serve as a General Pediatrician or Pediatric Subspecialist for the Department of Pediatrics.
Required Qualifications:
  • Board certified or board eligible in General Pediatrics and/or a Pediatric Subspecialty
  • Experience with clinical care of patients ages birth to 21
  • At least 5 years of educational leadership experience with house-staff or medical students
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Interest and experience in working with General Pediatrics or a Pediatric Subspecialty in which they are trained.
