Position Responsibilities

The Sensorimotor Performance and Rehabilitation Engineering (SPRE) Lab is looking to hire 1 research technician. The SPRE lab is located in the Department of Occupational Therapy (CHP Building Rm 5011). The SPRE lab studies sensorimotor integration during development, and studies the effect of sensory processing deficits on motor development. This is an hourly position for 20 hours/week. Compensation commensurate with experience, to begin as soon as the position is filled.
  • Coordinate the production of custom lab supplies (training will be provided)
  • Assist with research: setup equipment for research, assist with data collection
  • Perform data management tasks: maintain subject database, video data processing, organize research data
  • Perform lab maintenance tasks: manage and respond to project-related correspondence, routine laboratory maintenance (such as organizing lab equipment, maintaining inventory of lab supplies), routine clerical and administrative duties as instructed, attend lab meetings
Required Qualifications
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Occasional weekend hours required
  • Previous experience working in a research lab or similar setting
  • Comfortable with computers and analytical software (software used in the lab include but not limited to: Excel, MATLAB, Datavyu, SPSS)
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team
  • Experience working with children and/or children with special needs
  • Dependable, reliable, organized, flexible, excited about learning new things
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as an employee at VCU
Salary Range: $18+ (commensurate with experience)
